Kim Jin-woo, a killer who lives by his own seven rules and works as an appliance store clerk, carefully plans and executes the murder of Manager Kim, who had long bullied and harassed contract workers. He buries the body, but a few days later a woman named Yoo Hana, claiming to be from Daejin Trading, comes to ask about the missing manager. Jin-woo pretends not to know anything, until she chuckles and shows him a photograph—an image of him killing Manager Kim. Hana reveals that Kim was also her target. Jin-woo explains the seven rules he follows strictly, and Hana, whose freewheeling ways are so different from his, grows curious about him. She says she wants to keep watching him and takes his number, keeping the matter secret from her company, Daejin Trading. Meanwhile, Jin-woo worries that Hana’s appearance may shatter the life he has kept hidden. He asks his friend Yoo Kang-cheol, a white-hat hacker, to investigate Daejin Trading. When they discover it is part of a vast criminal organization, Jin-woo decides to leave for good. At the same time, Red, the head of Daejin, sensing Hana’s ulterior motives, is informed of an attempted hack on the company’s website and orders his men to eliminate Kang-cheol.

Seven Rules of Murder is a unique linked collection set in a world of assassins. At its center is a black comedy noir about meticulous killer Kim Jin-woo and the chaotic Yoo Hana, who unsettles him. Alongside it are interconnected stories: “Blue in You” (spy thriller on Jin-woo’s youth), “The Masked Killer” (a horror tale of his boyhood fears), and “Black & White” (a female-centered comedy about the past of Black). Each work can stand alone, yet together they expand the universe, blending action, horror, espionage, and comedy into a subcultural sensibility. Scheduled for publication in early 2027.
